Letter from Pastor Davey

Before we move into another year of ministry, we want to pause and praise our faithful and gracious Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ.

2022 Year in Review

As a church, 2022 was another stellar year of growth and rebuilding after the pandemic.

Worship

In 2022, more and more folks felt safe to return to in-person gatherings and worship, rather than just watching online.

Connect

Finding connection at a large church can sometimes be daunting…but we’re thankful for the many individuals and families who found connection here in 2022.

Grow

As in every year, our ultimate goal is to reach more souls for Christ, and 2022 was another great year of blessing in that regard.

Next Gen

Reaching the next generation for Christ is something we take seriously at Shepherd’s, and 2022 afforded some awesome opportunities for that.

Serve

Meeting the needs of others through serving—both inside and outside our church—was something that 2022 definitely brought to the forefront.

Share

Sharing the gospel of Christ in both word and deed through our various impact initiatives and programs is what we’re all about here at Shepherd’s.

Stewardship

Despite the economic downturn, rising inflation, and pain at the pump and grocery stores, the generosity of our church people continued to amaze in 2022!

Letter from Pastor Davey

Beloved,

I don’t know about you, but it seems like nitro has been added to our fuel tank. We’ve seen more people come to faith in Christ, publicly follow Him in baptism, with many more attending our church than in recent years. Ministry seems to be shifting into another gear all together . . . something’s happening that only God can orchestrate!

So, before we move into another fiscal year of ministry, we certainly want to pause and praise our faithful and gracious Chief Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ.

I often think about the fact that a windshield is much bigger than a rear-view mirror. In other words, what’s behind us is important, but what’s ahead of us should remain our focus. We have some critical issues to resolve, such as adapting to our space needs. Both the auditorium and classrooms for all ages are filling up and overflowing as people of all ages arrive to experience in-depth teaching, exuberant singing, and expository preaching. Not to mention all the community, sports, discipleship, evangelism and training events taking place on our campus throughout the week.

Now’s the time to remain alert to new ministry initiatives. So, let’s be generous in giving, intentional in praying, and sacrificial in serving our Lord, as we serve one another.

As you will observe in this special annual report, much has happened . . . to God alone belongs the glory for all He’s doing in our hearts and through our hands.

But let’s keep looking ahead . . . there’s much more to accomplish!

“After hearing the amazing choir and orchestra at Christmas Sweet, it inspired me to join the choir myself. Now I get the blessing and privilege of helping lead others in worship each Sunday.”

Delaney Sanderson

“I was looking for a church for quite a few years, and I found Shepherd’s Pastor Davey. From the first time I heard him to the welcomeness of the people in the church, I knew this was where God wanted me to be.”

Beverly Booe

“After coming to the church for just a few weeks, I met with Pastor Davey, and he explained the plan of salvation to me. I was under the conviction that I was lost and needed Christ.  My decision to follow Christ not only saved me, but it also saved my marriage and restored my family.”

Emilio Zabala

“Investing in the next spiritual generation of the church is critically important. There’s so much joy in seeing God get a hold of a child’s heart and setting them on a trajectory of a lifelong pursuit of Christ.  Jesus loves the little children, and He calls us to love them too.”

Keith Bence

“I’m thankful that the Whole-Hearted Marriage Class that Shepherd’s offers provides a great opportunity for couples to be real, share each others burdens, and be the body of Christ.”

Casey Quinton

“We are all commissioned by Christ to ‘go and make disciples.’ (Matt. 28:19) Whether or not a person chooses to accept Christ after we share the gospel with them isn’t up to us, it’s up to God. We just plant the seed, but it is God who makes it grow.”

Ron Scarborough

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Matthew 6:19-21
