WOW – Women of Wisdom:

Romans (with Ecclesiastes)

Wednesdays / 9:30-11:45 AM /   September 16, 2026 – April 28, 2027 / The Lodge (Family Center)
Teachers: Women of Wisdom Lecture Team and Guests

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes….” Rom. 1:16

W.O.W. (Women of Wisdom) is sound Bible study. Daily lessons of personal study, followed by weekly group discussion, a lecture and finally commentary align for true understanding of the passages’ meaning at the time and culture in which they were written.

In this year’s study:

God inspired the Teacher in Ecclesiastes to honestly examine life ‘under the sun’ — revealing the emptiness of human striving, fleeting wealth, pleasure, and human wisdom. It serves as a fresh reminder that “He has put eternity into man’s heart,” (Ecc 3:11), and there must be more! In Romans, God inspired the Apostle Paul to proclaim the “more” – the powerful answer to that very emptiness: the Gospel of Jesus Christ, through which sinners are justified by grace through faith, freed from sin’s dominion, and given real hope, purpose, and eternal life.

For those where distance or health prevents in-person attendance, please join our virtual group via Zoom (by request only).

Homework: 2.5 hours/week
Cost: $35/Year
Childcare available for separate fee.

In & Out Precept Study — Acts

Wednesdays / 6:30-8:00 PM / September 16, 2026–March 17, 2027 / FC204

In Acts, or the Acts of the Apostles, Luke recorded what happened after Jesus’ ascension to the Father.

In the first half of this yearlong study, we will explore how Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to empower the Apostles to proclaim God’s saving power and live daily for the gospel. God advanced the gospel through witnesses to Jesus’ death and resurrection. Join us as we learn from their example and grow in sharing our faith with others. Be encouraged by the fruit of faithful servants who shine God’s truth in a dark world, and watch the church expand in number, reach, and cultural diversity.

During the second half of the study, we look at Paul’s transformation from persecutor of the church to preacher. Join him on his journeys across the Roman world to proclaim the saving message of Jesus to Jews and Gentiles. Learn how to witness and how to live an authentic Christian life in all circumstances in the power of the Holy Spirit. Learn to be like Paul, to be bold in proclaiming the name of Jesus and to trust our sovereign Lord.

Homework: 1-3 hours per week
Cost: $35

WOW – Women of Wisdom:
(See W.O.W. description listed on Wednesday)

Thursdays / 7:00-8:00 PM / September 17, 2026 – April 29, 2027 / Zoom

W.O.W. (Women of Wisdom) is sound Bible study. Daily lessons of personal study, followed by weekly group discussion, a lecture and finally commentary align for true understanding of the passages’ meaning at the time and culture in which they were written.

A sister option of Wednesday’s Women of Wisdom, this Thursday evening option provides a weekly Zoom video conference for virtual discussion as a small group that tracks with the W.O.W. Wednesday morning curriculum of Romans with Ecclesiastes. A link to the recording of each Wednesday’s lecture allows participants to get the whole package.

In this year’s study:

God inspired the Teacher in Ecclesiastes to honestly examine life ‘under the sun’ — revealing the emptiness of human striving, fleeting wealth, pleasure, and human wisdom. Thursday evenings will be old-fashioned friendships and conversations on new-fashioned technology of video conference. Full-time jobs, distance, time zones and health issues don’t have to stop iron from sharpening iron with meaningful conversations via the web. Whether you are a working woman local to Cary, at a distance or have other reasons prohibiting your attending Wednesday’s in-person meetings, a Thursday evening Zoom discussion group is the perfect option to be Women of Wisdom (WOW!). Surely by the end of the year, we will “virtually” be sisters.

Don’t hesitate to email WOW@shepherds.org with any questions. If cost prevents you from studying with us, email MTerrell@shepherds.org to ask about the provided scholarship funds. Ladies have already prayed and donated for you! Join us.

About Women of Prayer

Small groups of women, of all ages, are meeting one hour a week to pray for one another.  We believe that “the prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” (James 5:16b). These groups are following a structured, Scripture-based approach that encourages seeking God’s face before seeking His hand. To be connected with a group, email womenofprayer@shepherds.org.
