LOCAL INITIATIVES

Several times throughout the year we offer various all-church local outreach inititaives to help meet needs within our community.  We invite you to join with us in helping to make a difference!

BUMPER CROP

Upcoming Date: October 10

Four times a year, Shepherd’s hosts our “Bumper Crop” food drive that helps to stock the shelves for local partner, With Love from Jesus—an evangelical outreach ministry that seeks to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of individuals in need within our community.  You’re invited to participate with us in this effort. JOY TOYS

Every November we help collect new toys, books, and stuffed animals for our global partner Child Evangelism Fellowship, who distributes the gifts to families in need right here in the Triangle area.  Most importantly, they also share the gospel presentation at a puppet show and storytime for the kids.  The collection runs through the month of November and you can drop off donations in the lobby or in the Children’s Center.

CHRISTMAS GIFT CARD MINISTRY

Each holiday season we collect gift cards to support and encourage those individuals and families within our own church body who need some assistance at Christmas.  Preferred cards include Target, Walmart, Grocery Stores, and gas.  Cards can be dropped off at the church office during normal business hours, or on Sundays in the Giving Boxes in the Worship Center.

LOCAL PROGRAMS

ESL (English as a Second Language)

This program gives a quality education that promotes academic achievement while supporting English language development. Free childcare is provided for parents who attend the program. Classes meet on Friday mornings during the school year. If you are interested in attending or volunteering, please email esl@shepherdschurch.com.

Disciple-Making Training

Periodic classes and workshops will equip you to effectively share your faith, understand how to witness to people of other religions, and develop an apologetic defense of the Christian faith.

Expatriate Worker Preparation

One of the most effective outreach strategies is for Christian men, women, and families to relocate to another part of the world to live, work, worship and love a community. We’re prepared to equip you and help you with an intentional international assignment.

Prayer Foundation

Praying for our Global Staff and Global Partners is the focus of the Prayer Foundation. This team gathers regularly to serve these ministers and their ministries through powerful intercessory prayer.  Contact us if you are interested in joining!
