BEWARE OF FAKE EMAILS!

 PHISHING ALERT!

There has been a rise of spam / scam emails (aka “phishing”) being sent that are posing as various Shepherd’s staff members, including Pastor Davey.  Some of you may have already received an email that appears to be from a trusted staff member asking you to do some type of task involving the purchase of gift cards.  Please be aware that this is a scam!

SAMPLE OF SCAM EMAILS & WHAT TO WATCH OUT FOR:

STEPS TO PROTECT YOURSELF

s

1. Check "From Email" Carefully

If you receive a suspicious email like the samples above, be sure to check the “FROM” email carefully.  If it does not have an official “@shepherds.org” email address, then it definitely is a scam!

2. Do Not Reply to Email

In addition, make sure you don’t click on any links that might be in the fruadulent email.  Scammers want to steal your information, so don’t give them an opportunity!

3. Delete Email Entirely

Be sure to promptly delete the email from your Inbox, but also be sure to empty the trash to ensure you’re truly getting rid of it entirely from your computer or digital device.

By taking these steps above, you will protect yourself from email predators!
